On Monday 28th October 2013 Ricki Savage completed one of his ultimate goals, completing a full Marathon. He did so in a fantastic time of 3 hours and 10 mins. Unfortunately this joy was only momentary as Ricki was to collapse after crossing the finishing line. To the great sadness of his family and friends we lost Ricki on Wednesday 30th October 2013. Ever Since then, we have been working on a way to continue to honour his name and allow him to leave a legacy that raises awareness and money for charities close to him and his family’s hearts. In June 2014 we held our first 24 hour football match, over a hundred players and hundreds more spectators turned out to honour Ricki’s memory and help us raise over £15,000. 2015’s event was a 5-a-side tournament held at Margate Football Club. 160 players took part in what was a great day and helped raise thousands more for our chosen causes. We aim for 2017’s 24 hour memorial match to be the biggest and best yet and send us over the £50,000 mark of money raised since Ricki’s untimely passing.

1st St Lawrence Scout Group hold a special place with the Savage family and Ricki was involved with the scout group in one way or another for a large part of his life. The family still has close ties to the group and our donations will go a long way to keeping the group going for a long time to come!
The appeal to raise £108,000 for a bereavement suite at the hospital is approximately three quarters towards its target. The amount raised so far now stands at £93,500, which leaves £14,500 left to raise in order to provide the much-needed facility in the maternity wards. We hope to contribute a large part of this money needed from our event.
